By
2001, Converge had been hometown
favorites in the Boston hardcore scene for over a decade. But this would be the
year that they released Jane Doe, a masterful take on extreme metal that made
use of virtuosic and experimental musicianship, as well as odd rhythms akin to
mathcore. The album was universally lauded by critics and audiences, propelling
the band to international stardom and leaving countless imitators in its wake. In
2009 they enjoyed a renewed public interest when they released Axe to Fall, which incorporated
traditional metal and progressive influences.
Joining
them at Santos will be Touche
Amore, Lewd Acts and Black Breath.
